We maximize the value of each log
For us, it goes without saying that a climate-smart product must be manufactured by a climate-smart industry. Therefore, we are constantly working to make our facilities and the use of our resources more efficient. To make the benefit of our products as significant as possible for both our customers and our climate.
A more sustainable world requires more wood
Fossil-free energy instead of oil, paper instead of plastic and wood products instead of steel and concrete. All of this is possible using our forests. For us, it is obvious – the building material of tomorrow is not found in the ground, it grows out of it. Over and over again for as long as we take care of it.
Our carbon footprint
Through a solid mapping of our entire value chain, from the forest, through the sawmill and out to the customer, we now have a firm grasp of the footprint of our sawn timber products. Knowledge that in turn gives us the conditions we need to work in a structured manner towards our sustainability goals and at the same time helps the construction industry to choose building materials with as little impact as possible for tomorrow's buildings.
Sustainable wood products out of well managed forests
A competitive sawmill industry is the engine of forestry. SCA manufactures processed wood products for the European building materials trade and the wood industry worldwide. Products such as pallets and outer panels. Our responsible forestry combines high production of valuable renewable raw material with extensive consideration to preserve and develop the forest's other values.
Our journey towards a fossil-free industry
In order to further maximize the value of our climate-smart products, we are constantly working to eliminate the fossil emissions that still remain in our own value chain. A work that includes both climate-smart investments in new modern technology and the development of new ways of working to make sure our resources are used even more efficiently. SingleTree – for a more optimal forestry
How can the forest's value chains be optimized using information about individual trees in combination with AI and remote sensing? This is what the extensive EU research project SingleTree aims to discover, in which SCA is one of 14 expert participants. "This is a very exciting project that addresses highly relevant issues," says André Wästlund from SCA Skog's technology and digitization staff.
New electric timber truck in operation
SCA's new electric timber truck with a crane is finally rolling in the Östavall area. The truck, which is a collaborative project between SCA and Scania, is the first in the world to collect timber in the forest for further transport to a timber terminal. On October 21, the truck was showcased to the media.
New electric hybrid truck at Östrand pulp mill
At Östrand's mill area, there are large log trucks that run around the clock, all year round. Handling is now further developed through the environmentally friendly EdiLog truck.
