New President and Chairman for SCA

New President and Chairman for SCA Sverker Martin-Löf (58), President and CEO of SCA, will leave his position in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting on 11 April 2002. Martin-Löf has been President of SCA since 1988. Jan Åström (45), currently Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO, has today been appointed successor by the Board of Directors. Åström will assume his position in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting in the spring. Åström was appointed to this position in the autumn of 2000 and had previously held various management positions in wholly or partly owned companies within SCA since 1993. The Board has announced that it intends to appoint Sverker Martin-Löf as new Chairman of SCA succeeding Bo Rydin, who turns 70 in 2002 and will leave the Board in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting. The Nomination Committee, which has the task of presenting a proposal for the structure of SCA's Board of Directors prior to the Annual General Meeting, has announced that it supports the choice of Sverker Martin-Löf as Chairman of the Board. The Committee includes Bo Rydin, SCA, Curt Källströmer, Handelsbankens Pensionsstiftelser, Christer Elmehagen, AMF Pension, Björn Lind, SEB Fonder, and Peter Rudman, Nordea Fonder. In addition, at its meeting, the Board decided to appoint Bo Rydin to the position of Honorary Chairman when he leaves the Board. Rydin has been a member of the SCA Board since 1972 and its Chairman since 1988.
