New terminal in Rochefort improves service

SCA Logistics is opening a new terminal in Rochefort to improve the logistics of supplying wood products to the French market. “It will complement the terminal in Honfleur perfectly. This will make our logistics chain more efficient and provide French wood products customers with even better service,” says Armel Chaumont, President of SCA Wood France.

SCA works constantly to improve and develop logistics. This is done in close collaboration with customers, which in this case means Innovation Solutions Bois (ISB).
“SCA Wood is one of the main suppliers of ISB, a company that further processes and distributes wood products to builders’ merchants and the wood products industry in France, and that SCA is a shareholder in. The two main ports used by ISB are Honfleur and Rochefort and having our own terminal at both locations will make us an even better supplier to them,” says Markus Henningsson, Vice President Marketing & Sales at SCA Wood.

Reaching the entire French market

The new terminal makes it possible to deliver wood products more efficiently all over France.
“Honfleur is in northwest France while Rochefort is in the southwest, so they complement one another really well. Rochefort is also close to many of our major customers,” says Armel.
The Rochefort terminal also allows for a joint warehouse for each customer segment, something that will improve matters further.
Rochefort is a reliable port that provides good service. It is well-maintained and investments have been made on the quays over recent years.
“In addition to raising quality, this also makes for a safe work environment. Another benefit is that there is plenty of storage space close to the quay. We will be able to store up to 10,000 cubic metres. We also see an opportunity for co-shipping large quantities of wood products, just as we do at Honfleur,” says Lotta Åkre, Commercial Manager at SCA Logistics.

SCA Wood France deals with sales

SCA Wood France, a new subsidiary of SCA Wood, is responsible for direct sales to the French market.
“ISB has dealt with sales in France on our behalf for the last few years, but now we will be taking care of it ourselves, as we did previously. Still, our close and good collaboration with ISB will continue and the new terminal is part of that,” says Markus.
