JackPot is a larger and more vibrant seedling from the very start. We offer it as spruce, pine and Pinus contorta.

Our tree nurseries
Within NorrPlant, SCA's plant seedling operations, we lay the foundation for the next generation forest. Every year, over 100 million seedlings see the light of day on our own "tree nursery". Plants that grow into trees, bind carbon dioxide and form the forests of the future.
SCA's plant operations NorrPlant consists of Bogrundet and Wifstamon's tree nurseries, located in Timrå municipality. Quality and knowledge are guiding stars in our work to give the future forest the best possible start and high growth.
We use the best seed material on the market, which produces cultivated plants that grow well, up to 30 percent better than uncultivated forests. This results in forests that grow better throughout the cycle time.
100 million seedlings
Every year we grow and deliver over 100 million forest seedlings with documented good plant vigor. Our facility covers just over 50,000 hectares, an area equivalent to 100,000 football pitches. About half of all the plants we grow are used for regrowth in SCA's own forests, the other half we sell to external customers.
We offer plants of spruce, pine and Pinus contorta. The latter is a Canadian pine species that grows 40 percent faster than the Swedish conifer species and which provides a valuable addition of renewable raw material. Depending on the tree species and where the trees grow, it takes between 60 and 120 years from one forest generation to the next.
A green start
Our plants get a green start thanks to completely fossil-free heating in both of our tree nurseries. The heating system in Bogrundet is powered by pellets from SCA’s pellet factory, and we heat Wifstamon by using waste heat from SCA’s pulp mill in Östrand.

JackPot
PowerPot
PowerPot is a somewhat smaller seedling, but one that allows more economic and effective planting. We offer it as spruce, pine and Pinus contorta.
SuperPot
SuperPot is our largest seedling. We offer it as spruce and pine.
From seed to plant
Follow the path of the seed from cone to seedling - from the seed plantation and nursery to planting.
Bogrundet
Bogrundet's nursery is the world's largest forest nursery and has the capacity to grow approx. 85 million saplings per year of pine, spruce and pine.
At Bogrundet there are:
- 14 thermal greenhouses of 100 x 25 meters each
- 110 open air sites, a total of 15 hectares
- Laboratory, sowing hall and cold storage
- Freezers for frozen plants
- Plant for Hylosafe
Wifstamon
Wifstamon's nursery has the capacity to grow approx. 15 million seedlings/year of pine, spruce and box pine.
At Wifstamon there are:
- 2 heating greenhouses of 100 x 25 meters each
- 2 on 100 x12 m 25 open air sites, a total of 4 hectares
- Sowing hall and cold storage
Research and Development
Hylosafe® – protects the plants
Each year, weevils damage young plants to the tune of hundreds of millions of kroner. That is why we have developed Hylosafe®, our new long-acting, environmentally friendly protection against weevils. By treating the plants with the effective protection, the plants are left in peace.

It’s all about the roots
Our plants have an optimal root system that are highly reminiscent of the roots created when nature itself gets to decide. We use a combination of different methods, such as root-training ridges, airslits and copper paint, to ensure the optimal development of the roots.
By painting the inside of all pots with copper-based paint, the seedlings’ roots cease to grow when they come into contact with the side of the pot. Because the roots are thus not forced to bend when they reach the side of the pot, they do not become deformed.
When the seedlings are then removed from the pots to be planted in the ground, the roots once again start to grow, but this time straight out, like the roots of naturally regenerating seedlings. This results in a straight tree with good stability and high growth.
